The link between home and school is vital for children and at New Lambton South Public School home/school links are promoted. Parents and community members assist in many school programs and initiatives, including in-class programs, sports, working bees, on camps and excursions, at social and community events, fundraising events, at every opportunity.
Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your child’s education and to get to know the school staff and other parents.
Research shows that children benefit when their parents are actively involved in their education and school life.
Keep an eye on the school newsletter for opportunities to help out at school and ask your child’s teacher if you are interested in helping in the classroom. You will be required to complete a working with children check beforehand.
Here are some ways you can help:
- listen to children read in the classroom
- volunteer on sports days
- help to supervise excursions
- get involved in fundraising activities
- join a school committee.
Our Parents & Citizens’ Association (P&C) brings the school community together. Parents, teachers and community members can help meet the needs of the school community and contribute to decisions about the school.
The P&C also raises funds that help finance improvements to our school and provide additional resources.
Our parents and volunteers are very supportive of the school and its direction and are willing to work in a shared partnership. The P&C meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7.00pm in the Block A staffroom. Yearly membership is $1. By attending P&C meetings parents will be made aware of the educational objectives of our school, current events, fundraising and social opportunities and have an opportunity to focus on enhancements to the school.
