Thank you to all parents who have supported the school in implementing the phased return to school. The numbers of students returning to school has increased each day and it has been wonderful to see all their happy faces. As numbers continue to grow, it will become increasingly difficult for teachers to provide face to face and online learning. We have plans in place for multiple scenarios to ensure that no children are disadvantaged and this will be communicated by classroom teachers via seesaw.
WEEK 4 TERM 2 – 18-22 MAY
Please see the roster below for the allocated days for your child’s attendance. This is the same as week 3. As always school is operational for any child that needs to attend.
PICK UP AND DROP OFF
Students can enter the school at any gate. There are staff rostered on to welcome students into school. We ask that parents stay off the site in the morning as we minimise adult movement through the school. Parents are welcome to enter the school grounds for pick up in the afternoon and wait in the allocated areas so as to reduce congestion at the gates. If you need to collect your child early please contact the office to arrange and we will have your child at the office waiting for you.
WEEK 5 TERM 2 – 25-29 MAY
Next week we will be reviewing the current phased return to school and planning for week 5. There may be some increases to the days that students are rostered to be at school. There may also be announcements from the Minister for Education regarding students return. This will be communicated via CareMonkey.
OPPORTUNITY CLASS PLACEMENT 2021
The placement process for opportunity class entry in 2021, including the Opportunity Class Placement Test, will be delayed until later in the year. As a result, applications will not open on 28 April 2020 as previously advised. This delay is in response to the social distancing measures that are currently in place to help slow the spread of COVID-19 throughout the community.
The opportunity class placement will still go ahead in 2020 however, the process for that, including the timeline, will look a little different this year. We intend to ensure Year 5 students are placed opportunity classes in 2021 with minimal disruption to schools and families.
The department will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure people have access to the latest advice on how to keep staff, students and the community safe. Revised dates for applications, tests and process changes (including any changes to school assessment scores) will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
Please monitor the department’s website via https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-5 to remain up to date with information relating to opportunity classes.
Following on from last years wonderful NLSPS Lego Masters we will be running a virtual Lego MAsters for anyone that want to participate. Next Friday a theme for the challenge will be posted on facebook and sent home via the app and seesaw. Students (and parents) have until Sunday night at 6pm to design and build their themed piece. Photos will need to be uploaded to seesaw or emailed to the school for us to create a collage and announce winners! Stay tuned for the announcement of the theme!
