Junior Band started this week. All our new band members were very excited to start learning their music pieces.
Star LAB Challenge – Students from 56T participated in a robotic ‘Hackathon’ day on Thursday. The robots were donated from a program supported by The Newcastle City Council, RDA Hunter and Obelisk Systems. Coding is the future for our students and so being able to teach it in a fun and interactive way in Stage 3 is very exciting. The Star LAB Rovers are a fantastic tool in supporting the 4 Cs in the classroom – communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. Students learnt how to program the rovers using Scratch and discovered how to take the temperature and even take photos. Over the next two months they will need to develop their skills to be able to manoeuvre through a 3D model of Newcastle City in a challenge day.
Starrs Planetarium – This Friday Stage 2 and 3 took a trip into space inside a Planetarium!!!
We learnt about galaxies, astronauts, Star constellations and all other amazing facts about space!!!
Students thoroughly enjoyed this learning experience and can’t wait to launch into our Space Research Inquiry!!!
