Finite Gallery Junior Art Prize
This year our school has twenty-four entries in the Finite Junior Art Prize and our artists range from Kinder thru to Year 6. All of the drawing, painting and 3D art forms submitted are very diverse and judging will be difficult. For most this will be the first time students have their work displayed in an art gallery .The competition is open to school students K-12 and all participants receive a certificate of Participation and art prizes to recognise outstanding creativity.
Last Saturday was the official opening of the exhibition at Caves Beach and there was a wide collection of student art on display. A large number of people were there including families from our school. The atmosphere was exciting with lots of photos being taken of children and their art in a ‘Art gallery’. Judging is a difficult job when each work displays creativity. Exciting news was that some of our students were awarded Highly Commended certificates and prizes for their entries – Evangeline V.K (Stage 1) Fergus S (Stage 2) and Ivy H.T (Stage 3). Commended awards and certificates and prizes were given to Mysha M.T (Stage 2) and Addison B (Stage 3). The following photographs display some of the proud moments at the exhibition. Thank you to all students that entered and Finite Art Gallery for acknowledging artists of any age.
Stage 1 Artists Term 3
In Visual Arts, students learn about artists, some may be Australian, and others may be famous throughout the world. . The term unit based on appreciation and art making observes artists such Vincent van Gogh ‘Starry Night‘, Edvard Munch ‘The Scream‘ and Henri Matisse’s collage ‘Icarus’. Each work is unique and student have enjoyed learning about each of the artists and the subject. The linear quality of artists drawing or painterly technique has been recreated in their own work to create stunning images. The following are some of the examples.
