Week 2 has come and gone! It is wonderful to see all our students, returning and new, settling into the school year with ease.
Kinder students have all had a wonderful first full week at school. They are all settling in extremely well and making new friends. We are sure that your children will be excited to share all the great things they are learning each afternoon. Our year 5 buddies are also doing an exceptional job ensuring the newest members of our school are finding their way whilst also allowing them to explore and be independent during lunch and recess.
Year 2 children were happy to see all their friends after the holidays. All year 2 students participate together on Friday to play sport and practise our school values of being kind, being safe and doing our best. The students showed great excitement and team work when learning how to play Golden Child – a team basketball game. Teachers noticed lots of creativity during social play and enjoyed watching everyone work together and develop new friendships.
On Wednesday Mr Pryce surprised the students with an extra hour of play in the morning. This was in conjunction with Global School Play Day. Global School Play Day is creating awareness about the necessity of unstructured play. The key to a successful Global School Play Day is giving children the time and space to be innovative and imaginative with one another. Teachers at New Lambton South Public School certainly took joy in watching our students do just that.
