NLSPS have been very busy in Week 5! Check out what they have been up too!
Andrew Daddo Talk – There was a lot of laughter from both students and teachers coming out of our hall on Thursday when Andrew Daddo delivered his very funny and witty talk about how his characters came to life and how his family played a huge influence on the development of these characters. We were lucky enough to also have a impromptu visit from Stephen Michael King, Illustrator of Andrew Daddo’s newest book – Atticus Van Tasticus.
Year 1 Library Walking Excursion – Year 1 walked to New Lambton Regional Library to watch the Book Week play as part of this weeks celebrations. The play was a compilation of chapters from books that are shortlisted for the CBA Early Childhood, Picture Book, Eva Pownall and New Illustrator Awards. The books featured were ‘Here comes stinkbug’, ‘The Dress-up Box’, ‘Rainbow Bear’, ‘The All New Must Have Orange 430’, ‘Sorry Day’, ‘Grandma Z’ and ‘The Singing Seal’.
Book Week Parade – Wow! What a great day was had by both students and staff at the Book Week Parade today. Thank you to all the parents and carers that came and supported the students. We had the Wiggles, characters from Dr Seuss, Marvel and DC Comics Super-Heroes, many different princesses, Grug, Harry Potter characters and our very own Hulk. Thank you to Mrs Drew for organising a wonderful and enthusiastic Book Week Parade.
Stage 3 Newcastle Permanent Maths Competition – This week the Stage 3 completed the Newcastle Permanent Maths Competition. This is an annual maths competition that students across Regional NSW have the opportunity to test their numeracy and problem-solving skills in one of Australia’s longest running annual mathematics competition. Well done Stage 3!
